Four candles

FOUR CANDLES

Four candles were burning on the Advent Wreath…

… so silently , that you could hear when the candles started to talk.

The first candle sighed and said:

”MY NAME IS PEACE.

MY LIGHT IS STILL SHINING,BUT PEOPLE DON´T RESPECT PEACE .“

Its light was smaller and smaller, and then it went out…

The light of the second candle twinkled and the candle said:

” MY NAME IS FAITH,

HOWEVER, I AM USELESS. PEOPLE DON´T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING

ABOUT GOD, SO THERE´S NO POINT IN SHINING.”

And the second candle went out in the draught…

Silently and sadly the third candle started to speak too :

”MY NAME IS LOVE.

I HAVEN´T GOT ANY STRENGTH TO SHINE. PEOPLE HAVE PUT ME PUT

ASIDE. THEY CAN SEE ONLY THEMSELVES, NOT THE OTHER PEOPLE

WHOM THEY SHOULD LOVE TOO.“

And with a final tremble, it went out too …

At the moment a small child

walked into the room.

The child looked at the candles and said:

„You must shine, you can´t be put out‘‘

And he nearly started to cry…

And then the fourth candle started to speak and and said:

”Dont worry! As long as I am shining, we can light up the

other candles.

„MY NAME ISHOPE!”

The child took this candle and lighted from it the other candles again.

The Flame of HOPE should never go out in

your life…

... and each of us should keep shining

the candles of :PEACEFAITHLOVE

and HOPE.
