Chef at Large, May – June 2012
Editor’s Note
May was a bit of a slow month considering our usual hectic
schedule – usually landing up at a restaurant still chewing the
last bite from another restaurant.
Even so, we managed 14 new restaurants across Delhi, Mumbai
and Bangalore.
You’ll read about Natasha’s experience at Aloft Hotel, Bangalore
and will be happy to know that we have a new city on board –
Chennai, with Kuki Ravindran (applause) who kicked off her
presence with a property review of Aloft Hotel, Chennai.
The Chef at Large T-shirts arrived a little while back and I’m
thrilled with the way they’ve turned out. I hope you’re all going to
spread the love by ordering some – we’re giving them away at
cost; the more ordered overall, the lesser each of us will end up
paying. Stay tuned. : -)
We’re now trying to establish a plan for what we’ll publish every
month; your suggestions are so very welcome, so please do write
in!
Stay well.

Parul thoroughly enjoyed herself at the
Cinco De Mayo promotion at Café [V]
Spot Cafe Bar.
Apart from a disappointing dessert Cafe
Jiji in Gurgaon appears to have
everything else going for it!
My lunch at The Chinese in Connaught
Place was as good as everything I've
heard about this restaurant. A must-visit!
Lemp brewpub has made a conscious
effort to raise the bar for food & beer
menus in pubs across town.
Ardor tries to please everyone and ends
up predictably. Walk in if you're hungry
and you'll leave fairly happy.
Chynna Gold is a great place to awe
out of town guests with highly
acceptable food and lovely decor.
We were pleasantly surprised at the
depth of thought and effort at Kasturi.
You really must visit!

Mamagoto, Saket keeps up it's
reputation of being a fun place for lively
food!.
I say this as probably never before.
You're seriously missing out if you don't
try out both the new menus at Azimuth.

Madhulika made the strenuous journey
to Kokum & Spice and was thrilled with
the food!
Natasha found her Thai craving realized
at High on Thai. Considering she's just
back from Bangkok, that is a compliment
indeed!

If you ever wished there was another
on-table BBQ option in town, your wish
has been granted! BBQ World has
Natasha's seal of approval!
We found the Aloft Hotel to deliver on
all it's promises and recommend it for
business or casual leisure travel.
Khaaja Chowk is a lifesaver for north
Indians in Bangalore, per Aparna Jha
who strongly recommends you visit their
Indiranagar outlet.

I had a great time at the Shahjahanabad
Food Festival at Singh Sahib, Eros
Hotel managed by Hilton.
Transported back to her college days,
Parul tried some great Malaysian food at
Asia Alive, Doubletree GGN.
Fresh, authentic, awe-inspiring and
utterly delicious. You really must visit
Oasis at The Claridges, Surajkund.
