What is a heat pump?

• A heat pump enables energy-efficient heating. It does not produce energy. It ‘pumps’ heat at a relatively lower temperature from air, water, or soil and gives it off at a higher temperature into a building

FOUR MAIN COMPONENTS

• Evaporator: contains work fluid at lower temperature than environment. Heat is extracted from ground, air, or water. Pressure is low, so the work fluid evaporates

• Compressor: brings gas to higher pressure, the temperature rises

• Condenser: gas temperature is higher than fluid temperature of heating system. Excess heat is transferred to fluid. The gas cools and condenses

• REVERSING VALVE (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED) A Reversing Valve is a component in a heat pump, that changes the direction of refrigerant flow.By reversing the flow of refrigerant, the heat pump refrigeration cycle is changed from cooling to heating or vice versa. This allows a residence or facility to be heated and cooled by a single piece of equipment, by the same means, and with the same hardware.

TYPES OF R.N.S HEAT PUMPS

• There are two main types of air source heat pump system: •An air-to-water system distributes heat via the wet central heating system. Heat pumps work much more efficiently at a lower temperature than a standard boiler system would, so they are more suitable for under floor heating systems or larger radiators, which give out heat at lower temperatures over longer periods of time. •An air-to-air system produces warm air which is circulated by fans to heat domestic or commercial establishments. They can provide you with hot water as well.

1. How does an R.N.S. Air Source Heat Pump Work ?

• An R.N.S Air Source Heat Pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -15°C.

• R.N.S. Air Source Heat Pumps have some impact on the environment as they need electricity to run, but the heat they extract from the air is constantly being renewed naturally

2. How does an R.N.S Air Source Heat Pump Work?

• Heat from the air is absorbed at low temperature via an evaporator into a fluid that becomes a gas at low temperature.

• This fluid then passes through a compressor where its temperature is increased so it becomes a hot gas.

• The heat in the gas is transferred via the condenser to heat the heating and hot water circuits of the house or facility.

• An Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) is a refrigerant based system, like your refrigerator at home. The system can absorb low grade heat from the air, and raise its temperature efficiently to be suitable for space heating and/or hot water.

• R.N.S is an air source heat pump system and can provide water temperatures of up to 60°C (without backup electric heater) in ambient temperatures as low as -15°C.

R.N.S HEAT PUMP EFFICIENCY

• For every 1kW of electricity fed into an R.N.S heat pump unit (i.e. the outdoor part of the R.N.S heating system), you could get at least 4 kW of heating energy. The overall system efficiency and energy savings will depend on the comparison with your current heating system, satisfactory system design and installation, and operational settings i.e. how you use the heating system.

• The R.N.S range is designed to suit a wide number of applications, from a small flat to multi bedroom houses and caters to varying requirements of both new build and existing homes (retro fit).

R.N.S HEAT PUMP: SMALLEST RANGE,R 35

• The smallest capacity unit in our R.N.S range is the R 35 which is 3.5 kW and is perfect for use in new build applications due to their modern day thermal efficiencies. Able to work at variable capacities, the R 50 is ideal for many applications ranging from smaller existing homes or flats to medium sized newly built homes.

R.N.S DOMESTIC HEAT PUMP,MODEL:R 90

• Currently the popular unit in our R.N.S range is the R 85 which is proving ideal for use in both newly built homes and existing homes too. Able to work at variable capacities, the R 90 offers the widest scope to cater for the majority of applications.

R.N.S. COMMERCIAL HEAT PUMPS

• Specifically designed for large applications, the R.N.S Commercial air source heat pump system can operate singularly, or form part of a multiple unit system. The system also comes equipped with a wide range of controller features as standard.

• A multiple unit system has the ability to cascade available units on and off to meet the load from a building. As an example of this modulation, a 16 unit system allows 0.5kW increments of capacity, from 14kW all the way up to 600kW. This level of modulation is unprecedented within the heating industry and with cascade and rotation built in as standard; the R.N.S system is perfectly suited to a wide range of commercial applications.

• Catering for applications with a greater demand for more powerful units are the R110 and R140. Our most powerful units are perfectly suited to provide effective heating and hot water for larger, existing homes that do not benefit from the thermal efficiencies of today's homes.
