A Little Detour…

Children do not need a cell phone because it is a small school; we can always locate your child.Texting is the biggest problem. Get a cell phone with limited texting opportunities.Research your plan for the special cell phones for kids. If you do decide to give a child a cell phone…do not give it to a child as a reward. Give it to them as an emergency tool and reserve the right to look at the phone at any given time.

Children do not need a laptopFifth graders need a working desktop computer located in the living room or any other place where people frequently passFifth graders need a working printer and possibly access to Internet with the enforced parental controls.

Raise a Good SportTeach to failA certain amount of stress is okay, raise a resilient child by being positive and trying to find something good in every dayDo not interfere in child’s disputes! Do not allow a child to whine and complain. Whining and complaining do not equate expressing one’s feelings. Teach “I feel that…”
