I think it would be true to say that we have all been to talks where the presenter has a large amount of text on their slides, often in quite a small font and they have chosen a really funky design to put around each slide. There are often nice bullet points, too, and they read everything that’s there, despite the fact that:

• You can read them for yourself on any normal day

• You forgot to bring your glasses today, so you can’t see anything anyway

• You thought that you had come to a ‘talk’ not a ‘read’
