Partly yes;Ultimately No

Nevertheless, we are here upon earth. Therefore this life is a means to attain that ultimate happiness which is GOD.

We conclude that there is here below a certain necessity to gain perfection which leads to the ultimate perfection.

Because of Original sin, man is wounded:

In the body:Death & Suffering

In the soul:Ignorance, malice, weakness, concupiscence etc.

Since the ultimate happiness is for man to possess, it follows of necessity that man must perfect himself in order to attain God, the ultimate happiness.

It follows that there must be subjection of the body,(11 passions), to the faculties of the soul (intellect & will).

Virtues of the intellect are:

WISDOMSCIENCEUNDERSTANDINGARTPRUDENCE

Virtues of the Will are:

PRUDENCE JUSTICE FORTITUDE TEMPERANCE

VIRTUES

Question. 1. What is the chief end of man? Answer. Man's chief end is to glorify God,

and to enjoy him for ever.Here are two ends of life specified. 1. The glorifying of God. 2. The enjoying of God.

BEATITUDE) OR HELL (HIS ETERNAL DAMNATION)
