I t stretches f rom Lake I taska to the Gulf of Mexico covering 1,150,000 square miles. Some cities in I owa that border the Mississippi are Dubuque, Davenport, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Clinton, and Burlington. Some facts about the Mississippi are: I n 1993 it was the biggest flood in the whole upper Mississippi, and that in 1927 was the biggest flood in the whole lower Mississippi. Did you know that there is a place in the Mississippi that is so polluted that nothing can live there? Or, did you know that it is not safe to eat fish that live in the Mississippi because of the pollution in the water?
