WHERE´S SCOTLAND?Scotland is in the north of the United Kingdom.

The capital city of Scotland is Edinburgh.

HISTORY

WILLIAM WALLACE

• William Wallace was a rebel. He fought for the freedom of Scotland against “Longshanks” King Edward I from England. His story is called Braveheart.

MARY STUART

• She was known like the queen of Scots. She was king James V´s smaller daughter although she was the only survival. She died in 1587 when she was executed.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

SEAN CONNERY

• Sir Thomas Sean Connery was one of the more famous 007 of the history. He got an Oscar galardon because of his character in the film The Untouchaubles.

ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE

• He was a very famous writer he became famous with his known Sherlock Holmes. The principal character in his mysteries novels.

WHAT’S IT?

NESSIE

• Nessie is a mythological animal. It’s live in Loch Ness. It’s a famous legend and a symbol for Scotland

GOVERNMENT

• The Queen of England is the head of government. The Scottish Parliament has legislative authority for all areas relating to Scotland.

• Haggis is the most popular dish in Scotland. It is made of sheep´s heart, lugs and liver and ingredients like onion, spices, oatmeal, suet and salt.

SHORTBREAD

• Shortbread is a typical biscuit of Scotland wich is traditionally made from one part white sugar, two parts butter, and three parts oatmeal flour.

WHISKY

• It is an alcoholic drink, Scotland is known for it. It is destilled two or three times with water and malt and It is always bottled with more than 40 degrees.

SPORT

GOLF

• The golf is a very typical sport in Scotland. Scotland is considerate the birthplace of the golf Scotland has the best fields in the world. Saint Andrews one is the best.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC

AULD LANG SYNE

• Auld Lang Syne is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788. Its traditional use being to celebrate the start of the New Year.

EDINBURGH

• Edinburgh is the capital city and the second bigest city in Scotland. Its in the east coast of Scotland. Edinburgh is very famous for its festival. It’s divided in two parts, the old part and the new part.

ROBERT BURNS NIGHT

• Robert Burns Night is a Scots celebration, in this we remember the life of Robert Burns. This supper is usually celebrate at Robert Burns’ birthday(25th January).

THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL

• The Edinburgh festival is a festival relacionated with the arts specially with the music and the theater. This festival is in summer during three weeks.
