Acknowledgement of the first peoples, not only of the people of this country, but also the land on which I learn and teach at USQ Toowoomba
Respect Relationships and Reconciliation
The three Modules are easy to use and applicable in multiple contexts. Module 1 is all about identity and is a fundamental concept that should underpin reflection for anyone studying at a tertiary level. Modules 2 and 3 specifically address APSTs 1.4 and 2.4 but also address elements of other standards e.g. APST 7
3R resources - multiple contexts providing varied perspectives essential for facilitating deep discussion, reflection and learning. In a 1st year USQ Curriculum and Pedagogy course this looks like: Inform - embedded links to readings and interviews Challenge - use of a 3Rs learning plan example regarding racism (a Y chart activity) Influence - references to the 8 Ways of Learning (next slide) are used in learning modules and professional
experience observation tasks (students use a variety of reflective perspectives) Create – pre-service teachers must plan a lesson that engages and caters for a diverse range of learners
including those students who identify as Aboriginal (an assessment task requiring use of the 3Rs to inform their planning)
Breadth and Depth
The 8 WaysPedagogical perspectives with clear
connections to any teaching contextElements of story sharing, deconstruct and
reconstruct, land links etc are easily interpreted and synthesised with other pedagogical approaches e.g multiple intelligences; productive pedagogies; the four resources model; breaking things into small parts and contextualising learning in community and context
