HYPOTHESES

The more dominant of the patriarchal system, the more abuse cases occur.

The more abuse occurs in the family, the more it leads to separation.

The abuse that happen in the family can lead to the aggressive behavior among the

victims.

Development of Abuse in FamilyAn increasing national sensitivity to violence of any kind, a reaction of highly dramatic and visible public violence of that period which was the Vietnamese war , political assassinations, urban riots and the homicide rate.

Social science trained its sights on family violence systematically for the first time in 1970swhich discovered that it was prevalent that it cut socioeconomic groups, and that it was not simply confined to the mentally confined

This research has shocked the people when it was reported in the press and these shocks were reinforced in the late 1970s and early 1980s by griming films, for instance (The Burning bed) about wife and documentaries which strongly portrayed the horror of the family violence.

Gelle [1993]: a society that based on male dominated in the family but has little education, low job income, lacks of interpersonal skills = violence => maintain the position

Charon & Vigilant [2006]: is a violence that started with men as a way to gain & maintain their absolute control over their female partners [show their authority]
