• Niki Lauda was one of the best Formula 1 drivers ever.

CarreerNiki Lauda started his racing career in 1968, especially in Formula 3 and Formula 2 before joining Formula 1, taking a personal budget for the then small team March.

In 1973 Ferrari hired him to hold pilot.

In 1974 Ferrari won its first Grand Prix in Spain.

In 1975, after five victories were crowned world champions for the first time.

• Hunt despite having a great rivalry with Niki Lauda, they had great respect for one another.

• But…

• In 1976 an accident at the Nurburgring (where his car caught fire, and Lauda was trapped in for several minutes) nearly took his life. A priest came to be called the hospital to give extreme unction. But despite severe burns, which cost him parts of the right ear, he survived.

After the accident

• Got 3 wins in 1977 and regained the world title.

• In 1984 he returned to win the world title.

NOW• He is currently the airline owner Niki and team

principal of Mercedes GP Formula 1 factory linked to Mercedes Benz.
