Consists of the Queen of New Zealand and the

New Zealand House of Representatives

Today theres two parts of parliament- House of

representatives and the Governor- General

The single chamber of the New Zealand Parliament

is called the House of Representatives

House of representatives can approve the raising

and spending of money by the government and

pass lawspass laws

PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY

Until 1986, the formal name for the Parliament was

the General Assembly of New Zealand

The House of Representatives usually consists of

120 members of parliament

PARLIAMENT HOUSE

In Wellington

Parliament house-1907 was destroyed by fire along

with all other parliament buildings except the library

The Chamber- grandly furnished with historically

significant artefacts, rimu timbers, thick green

carpets and green leather seats

The grand hall is 27-metre long

Grand hall was carefully cleaned and restored in

1992-1995

Officially opened the building in 1977

Ten storeys (72 m) high, four floors below ground
