“At birth executive skills only exists as potential. The newborn has no actual executive skills.”
LoriBoll.me | @LoriBoll
“…Frontal lobes, and therefore executive skills will require 18 to 20 years, or even longer to develop fully.”
LoriBoll.me | @LoriBoll
“Given these factors, children cannot rely soley on their own frontal lobes to regulate behavior?
What’s the solution?”

What could make this better for children with difficulties with Executive Functioning?
Lori Boll | Academic Counselor | www.LoriBoll.me
Scaffolding• Breaking up learning into chunks
• Then providing a tool or structure for each chunk
• Scaffolding is DIFFERENT than differentiation
• Scaffolding should be done for all children
• Take “They should be able to do this” out of your vocabulary.

In conjunc3on with The Giver and our social studies unit on government, law, and social jus3ce, you will be crea3ng a mul3-‐step Utopia project.
