parallel – (adj.) two lines, line segments or rays that are the same distance apart at all points and extend indefinitely without ever crossing.

perpendicular – (adj) two lines, line segments or rays that meet at right angles (90 degree angles, perfect square corners).

standard notation – (adj) the simple written form of a number.

reasonable – (adj) logical, not excessive, made with sound judgment.

addend – (n) a number that is added to another to form a sum.

variable – (adj) able to change or vary(n) a letter, symbol, or picture that takes the place of a number

expression – (n) math definition - some combination of variables, numbers, and/or constants

equation – (n) two or more variables, expressions, and/or numbers that have the same value, denoted by an equal sign (=)

inequality – (n) a statement indicating that the value of one quantity is not exactly equal to another.

rule – (n) the procedure that a function table must follow.

solution (n) – the process of determining the answer to a problem, or the answer itself

adjacent – (adj) a pair of line segments, rays or angles that meet at a common vertex
