Chinese Full Moon Festival (9/22/2010)

Every ten days, one sun came out to shine.

One day, they decided to all come out.

What will happen?

The king ordered his best archer to shoot the suns down.

10 -1 = 9

9 -1 = 8

8 -1 = 7

7 -1 = 6

6 -1 = 5

5 -1 = 4

4 -1 = 3

3 -1 = 2

2 -1 = 1

The archer decided to keep the last sun in the sky.

The King was very happy and decided to reward the archer for his brave behavior. The king said to the archer: “You can choose

one box of treasure or one magic pill that can make you live forever”. The archer chose the magic pill.

The archer brought the magic pill home and told his wife Change’e to keep it in a

safe place.

The wife, Chang’e was very curious and decided to have a little taste of

the pill. But she swallowed the whole pill.

She found her body become lighter and lighter, and she was flying to the haven. The archer tried to grab his wife but it was

too late. Chang’e flied to the moon to live there forever.

From then, people celebrate the full moon at the mid autumn festival to express their thoughts and cares for their loved ones.

The archer really missed his wife. When the moon was full, he could see his wife dancing there.
