Photo Collections:

Approximately 5000 images from ca. 1900 to the present depict a variety of subjects significant to the history of and surrounding towns of Ocean Ridge, Briny

Breezes, Hypoluxo, and . Subjects include agriculture, city government, fire department, historic homes, library, pioneers, fishing, recreation and schools.

Subject Files:

Contain clippings, brochures, pamphlets and other materials relating to various subjects significant to the area history. Highlights include muralist Bernard Thomas,

Chamber of Commerce, Motorola, and fishing tournaments.

Manuscript Collections:

A number of important documents which chronicle our rich history reside in the archive. Boynton area pioneers Frieda Voss Oyer, Hazel Daugherty Houston, James

Nichols, Paul Mercer and others have submitted papers to the archives. Original deeds and abstracts of the Town of and city records from 1920 to 1930 record a time

of real estate boom and bust.

Architectural Drawings:

A small but developing number of architectural drawings document some of the most historic structures in the City of .

Maps

Over 60 maps and a collection of aerial photographs and plat maps provide spatial data of our area’s history.

Newspapers

A large collection of local newspapers from 1948 to present day: Boynton Beach Star, Boynton Beach News Journal, Boynton Beach News, Boynton Times, Boynton

Forum and the Coastal Star.

Collection

Over 1600 non-fiction books are in our collection.

Yearbooks

About 20 yearbooks from Boynton area schools including , Boynton Beach Jr. High, and St. Mark’s School.

Civic Clubs

Papers, clippings, scrapbooks and some objects from Boynton Beach civic clubs including Kiwanis, Jaycees, Woman’s Club, Art Club, Library Quilters, Garden

Club, and Rotary.

Oral Histories

A growing collection of oral histories of Boynton residents from local pioneers such as farmers, school teachers, realtors, fishermen, and others reflect everyday life

in the area and give a first hand account of our history.
