DESCRIPTION

This is the PowerPoint version of the Video created by Dr Sanjoy Sanyal, Professor and Course Director of Neuroscience. The components of Basal Forebrain are described, followed by the Meso-limbic and Meso-cortical Pathways. Then their role in Drug Addiction and Schizophrenia are explained. Finally the Hypothalamic, Hippocampal Formation, Septal Areas and Amygdala Connections are demonstrated graphically. YouTube video has been embedded after Slide number 13, which contains a running commentary by the author on a formalinized juman brain specimen. It describes what has bee mentioned in the preceding slides. This is purely for educational purposes and no copyright infringement is intended. LIMBIC CONNECTIONS

Dr Sanjoy Sanyal

Basal Forebrain Components OF-PFC: Orbito-Frontal Pre-Frontal Cortex Septal Areas:

Cortical Areas: Para-terminal Gyrus (Adjacent to Lamina Terminalis) and Sub-callosal (Under Rostrum of Corpus Callosum)

Subcortical Nuclei: Between Septum Pellucidum and Anterior Commissure (Lateral, Medial, Posterior Nuclei)

Ventral Striatum: Nucleus Accumbens + Olfactory Tubercle (Cells of Calleja)

Ventral Pallidum: Substantia Innominata; Including Nucleus Basalis of Meynert

Anterior Hypothalamus: Pre-Optic Area
