Hands up if you know what we’re talking about.

I don’t like polarising debates.

AR is a new style of interacting with

content.

It conjures and delights.

Four things AR can do

1. Discover (and interact with) objects

2. Find things in galleries

3. Empower visitors to participate

4. Support looking and understanding

I come from a learning perspective.

1. Discover and interact

AR at the British Museum began with Passport to the Afterlife.

Discover.

And interact.

What did we learn?

Markers or images can be used to

trigger display of objects.

The objects can be real or fictional.

They can show things you would otherwise

not see.

Assets have multiple lives.

User experience can be tricky.

2. Finding things in galleries

The illusion of location.

Pinpointing objects in galleries is hard. Really hard.
