ACCORDING TO BERNARD R ROBIN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON, DIGITAL STORYTELLING HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL TOOL FOR BOTH STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS.

SO AS THE INFORMATION OF THE WORLD TURNS AND GET FASTER…

INTEGRATION OF DIGITAL MEDIA IN THE CLASSROOM WILL ALLOW US TO BRIDGE SOME OF THE EDUCATIONAL GAPS TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS AND ALLOW THEM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TECHNOLOGICAL BENEFITS WHEN THEY COMBINE INSTRUCTIONS WITH GRAPHICS, TEXT, VIDEO AND IMAGES.

CONCEPTS LIKE DIGITAL STORYTELLING GENUINELY SUPPORT REAL WORLD ISSUES IN SPECIAL EDUCATION AND PROVIDED ASSISTED DEVICES TO STILL ENRICH INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES.

IT ALSO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR DISTANT LEARNER STUDENTS WHO ARE MORE ADVANCED AND NEED MORE FLEXIBILITY WITH THEIR EDUCATION.

IN MY PAST TEACHING EXPERIENCES…

WHEN TEACHING THE SUBJECT OF SLAVERY, STUDENTS DON’T NORMALLY SHARE STRONG SENTIMENTS WHEN THEY’RE INITIALLY INTRODUCED TO THE SUBJECT.

EVENTUALLY THAT OPINION CHANGES DRAMATICALLY WHEN THEY ARE SHOWN IMAGES FROM THE AFRICAN COAST, VIDEO DOCUMENTARY OF THE CROSSING THE ATLANTIC OCEAN AND OTHER ATROCITIES ONCE ARRIVED TO THE U.S. AND SOLD INTO SLAVERY.

IN MY PERSONAL BELIEF, IMAGES ALWAYS DRIVE THE POINT HOME…

IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I HOPE TO DEVELOP MORE TOOLS AND IDEAS TO MAKE MY STUDENT’S EXPERIENCE MORE HANDS ON THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.

THE IDEA OF ALLOWING STUDENTS TO INTRODUCE NEW INFORMATION USING MORE DIGITAL STORYTELLING TECHNIQUES SOUNDS LIKE AN APPEALING NEW TOPIC.

I BELIEVE DOING THIS HELP STUDENTS MASTER OTHER EDUCATIONAL COMPONENTS SUCH AS WRITING ABILITY, ASSESSMENT SKILLS, PROBLEM SOLVING & ORGANIZATION SKILLS, INTERVIEW & INTERPERSONAL FLAIR AND ULTIMATELY THEIR PRESENTATION ABILITY…
