General Library Policies

There is no open drink containers allowed in library areas but especially near computers. Closed containers are ok.

Food is only permitted in the library lobby

Cell phone conversations are only permitted in the library lobby

Books should not be reshelved but placed on book carts

Noise is generally kept at a minimum

Hondo ID card Get course reserve material and text books

Periodicals Section Located to the left of the main entrance Newspapers, Magazines and Scholarly

Journals are found in this section.

The Computer Commons

Reserve a PC To Reserve a Computer –

Walk up to any unused computer Enter your AccessRio login and password on

the screen Hit “Enter” or click on the arrow You now have the computer for a set

amount of time. If you need additional time, ask for

assistance from a Reference librarian.

Copy Center The copy center is located just past the

circulation desk. 10 cents a page for printing and copying Add money to your My Print account using a

Dollar Bill or by using Paypal/ATM/Credit Cards.

Printing

Press the print button and proceed to the copy center to release your job.

To print a document; press print and a box will pop up. Enter in your Access Rio Credentials.

Study Areas There are many study areas

around the library. There are also 6 group study

rooms available for a two hour check out.

Visit the Reference Desk make a reservation.

Group Study Rooms

Available in two hour increments. Reserve a room up to a week in advance.

Room reservations can be made at the Reference desk or by phone.

Circulating Bookshelves These books can be checked out at the

Circulation Desk using your student ID. They are organized by letter, using the

Library of Congress classification system.

Finding Books The library catalog is used to find books. It can be searched by the book title, author, subject

or keyword. Please stop by the reference desk for assistance

searching the library catalog.

The call number can be used to locate a book on the circulating bookshelves.

Finding The Library’s Webpage From riohondo.edu, click on the Current Students

tab, then go to the bottom of the Resources menu to find the Library link.

Use the navigation menu on the left side of the screen to navigate the Library homepage.

Use Access Rio For Off-Campus Database Access

• Click the “Library” tab while in Access Rio • Choose database you want to use from list• Begin search

We Have Free WIFI To access the WIFI choose the Guest Rio

account, this is an open access network.

You must click continue at the certificate prompt.

Click the “Accept” button to get access to the internet.

WIFI will work with tablets, smartphones, Laptops as long as the “Accept” button is clicked to accept the terms and conditions.
