File a report with your local police. You are the

victim of a crime. Law enforcement agencies should be involved in

addition to the IRS.

Close a�ected bank or credit card accounts. Thieves now have access to your tax refund and likely other information to a means of entry to your bank or credit card.

Contact credit bureaus to place a fraud alert on your

credit reports. Criminals can open lines of credit in

your name and adversely a�ect your credit score.

Notify your tax advisor. It is extremely important that you involve your tax advisor in the event you are

a victim of tax refund fraud.
