Year 7 Assessment Task 1

This is John. He loves to play soccer. He always wears his favourite green soccer shirt.

John is very good at soccer but he never scores any goals. He practices everyday and wears his yellow soccer boots that are shiny like stars.

Every week John watches his team score more and more goals. This makes John sad because he tries so hard to score just one goal but always misses.

Everyday after school John practices kicking goals in his backyard with his Dad. Even his dog joins in running around them like a race car going round the track.

John dreams about that one goal everywhere. He dreams when he is at school …..

and  even  at  dinner.  

Johns soccer team has made the Grand Final. John and his team were all very excited. “Maybe I could score that one goal in the finals?", he wondered.

The finals day had arrived. The soccer match started at 10.00am. John and his team mates were wishing each other good luck before the game.

The teams were both playing well and the game was nearly over but no team had scored. Then suddenly one of Johns team mates passed the ball to him and yelled out, “GO FOR IT”.

GO FOR IT!!

With seconds to go, John ran towards the goals as quick as lightning and kicked the ball as hard as he could. The ball went flying past the keeper and into the goals. John had scored the winning GOALLLLL!!!

The crowd all jumped for joy as the ball flew into the nets for that perfect shot!

Johns team ran and picked him up and shouted “HOORAY FOR JOHN THE SOCCER STAR!”.
