Becoming Independent Learners

• Get dressed quickly • Set the table• Make a sandwich• Pour a drink• Pack bookbag/PE kit• Making choices for themselves• Hand in reading diaries and homework

Reading • 3 times a week for about 15 minutes a time• Library book – change independently –to share

with an adult at home• Guided reading book – teacher will change when

the assessment is complete• Scheme book – independent choice at their level• Assessment focus will be stickered in their diary• Make sure diary and reading books are in every

day

Homework• Spellings - Tuesday• Topic/Numeracy on a weekly rotation –

Wednesday• May need some support with homework• 20 minute activity roughly

Equipment • NO PENCIL CASES• Water bottles with name on• PE kit – indoor (shorts, white t.shirt, pumps,

socks) and outdoor (trousers, jumper, white t. shirt, trainers, socks)

Communication • Letters and notes• Empty book bags• Available before and after school
