Welcome to

The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap

sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap

bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your

mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a

cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every

blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of

everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.

MINDSET SHIFT:SCARCITY TO ABUNDANCE

“Faith and money lie at

the core of all religious

institutions; although

faith can exist without

money, religious

institutions cannot.”

FAITH, MONEY & GIVING

“It is a spiritual crisis because it

derives from the very soul of the

church. It lies in a fundamental

unwillingness on the part of clergy

to confront the teachings within

their own confessional heritage.”

MONEY AND THE BIBLE

How we acquire it.

How we regard it.

How we manage it.

How we spend it.

Sacred Texts - A theology of money cannot

be built around a single text. (See Deuteronomy

14:26) What the Bible teaches about money can

be fit into four categories:

FUNDRAISING AS MINISTRY

FUNDRAISING AS MINISTRY

“Asking people for money is

giving them the opportunity to

put their resources at the

disposal of the Kingdom.”

“Sometimes our concern for

the poor may carry with it a

prejudice against the rich.”

3. What transition has to take place in how we think, talk, and understand fundraising for us to consider fundraising as ministry?

@LakeInstitute

FUNDRAISING AS MINISTRY

Not a response to crisis

A way of announcing vision

An invitation to other people

into our mission

“Fundraising is precisely the opposite of begging. Rather, we are declaring, we have a vision that is amazing and exciting.”

“Generosity is the virtue of giving good things to others freely

and abundantly. It is a learned character trait that involves

attitude and action entailing both the inclination and actual

practice of giving liberally. It is not a haphazard behavior but a

basic orientation to life. What generosity gives can vary:

money, possessions, time, attention, aid, encouragement, and

more but it always intends to enhance the true wellbeing of

the receiver. Like all virtues, generosity is in people’s genuine

enlightened self-interest to learn and practice.”

“Rather than preaching a single sermon in

which the subject of money and giving is

forced or slanted to generate

immediate results….give voice

to all that the Bible has to say

about money and giving.”
