Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 RTW | Runway Fashion VIDEO Posted: 21 Jun 2013 04:00 AM PDT

Marc Jacobs’  Fall 2013-Winter 2014 collection did something few can achieve, it introduced a  commercially viable line within  a tour-de-force creative presentation full of  strong visuals ranging in nature from cinematic nods to contemporary art references. Mr. Jacobs played atlas to a sun globe and nouvelle vague director to starlets in different stages of dress.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 Runway Montage

The show delivered looks within the creative template of  a series of cinematic stills, many of them bridging everyday clothes with that unmistakable Marc Jacobs runway editorial touch. Cable-knit sweaters, high-waisted shorts and skirts, etc., were prominently on display. When styled with a multitude of fur details ranging from scarves and shrugs to full-fur garments, these civilian looks read chic and modern.

Mr. Jacobs distincitve handling of fur will introduce a new generation to seemingly vintage-looking outerwear items. Their simplicity added a touch of  humor that translated into relevant, fresh and wearable fur fashion easily integrated into any wardrobe. From fox chubby coats (presented in a few new construction styles), to short A-line Kastoria mink coats and even a mink dress, there is enough there to fit every age and personality.

The material choices and juxtapositions – pairing lamé with wool, sequin with fox– added to that late 60′s/early 70′s visual cinematic flair. The quirkiest piece was definitely a ‘cartoony’ mink scarf designed to look like a full pelt. All in all, it was one of Mr. Jacobs best collections in seasons.
