1. (a) What are the main causes of failure of weirs on permeable foundation, and what remedieswould you suggest to prevent them

(b) The cross section of a wear is shown in fig 1.calculate (i) uplift pressure at point Aand E, (ii) Thickness of concrete apron at point B, (iii) Exit gradient. Use Khorla’s curves.
