Water Management StandardIAMGOLD is committed to being a responsible water steward as it recognizes the importance of environmentally sustainable and socially equitable water use. We are dedicated to efficient resources water management and water conservation efforts to ensure access to clean water for all users now and for the future. The water management strategies will address all aspects of the operation, including closure planning, reclamation, tailings management, discharge water quality, potable water and groundwater quality.
These guiding principles will be applied through a commitment to:
Continuously improving our water management performance to optimize water consumption
Reducing freshwater demands, annual withdrawals, re-using and recycling water as much as possible
Setting annual water targets for consumption and management
Monitoring, measuring and disclosing our water consumption
Understanding and assessing water management related risks at all of our sites at the local and catchment levels
Minimizing harmful discharges and impacts on the quality of the water sources
Maintaining a sustainable water balance and water management plan at all of our sites
Consulting with communities and other stakeholders to protect and manage water resources in a meaningful and transparent manner
Meeting or exceeding legal and regulatory requirements and applying industry best practices and international standards related to water use as appropriate
Encouraging research, development and the use of innovative water technologies and practices
