But…

Sometimes PowerPoint is unavoidable.

For example, this presentation against using PowerPoint, actually IS a PowerPoint. Ironic.

If you still insist on using PowerPoint (or if your teacher still insists you use it)

at least make it interesting.

Simple Design Rules:

One Point Per Slide

Few Matching Colors

Very Few Fonts

Avoid too many bullets

Photos, not clipart

Less Text.

More Imagery.

BOLD Imagery.

High Quality (Copyright Free) Images

when it comes to text.

Most People Speak at 150 words per minute.

Most people READ at 250 words per minute.

So chances are, if you have too much on a slide, they are reading ahead and not paying attention to

you.

Ditch the Bullet Points Too Many Bullets Makes Things Boring And Too

Hard To

Follow

Avoid Bad Color Schemes That make it hard to read and Are Distracting

And just don’t look nice.

“Everything should be made as simple as possible

but not simpler.” -- Albert Einstein

Follow these rules…
