• Screened a total of 150 children– Quite a number of

students returned home for the weekend

– (very cold so did not want to detain the children)

• Only 2 needed glasses

• Quite a number of cases of – conjuntivitis and/or

keratitis (inflammation of the cornea)

• Special case …

• Inherited or related to metabolic or systemic abnormalities

• Many cases, cause unknown

• IF visually significant cataract occurs in a child,prompt surgery and rehabilitation required to

maximize visual development

(cataract does not allow the eyes to get proper visual stimulus to develop)
