Part I : Insertion in PPT

• Save the video file on your computer– Methods covered later.

• Click “Insert” on command bar.

• Then, click “Movie” on right.• Choose “Movie From File”

• Navigate to your video file.

• Select either– Play Automatically– When Clicked

• Resize if necessary

• That is a “Stand Alone” video– MUST be with PPT file on computer– If you move PPT, video must be moved, too.

• Embedding takes care of that:

• Embedding– “Insert”, “Object”, “Create From File”

• Embedding– “Browse” to your file and dbl click.– The following image shows up.

– This is a link to Windows Media Player…– Allows more functionality & stays with PPT

• Overall Advantages– Simple– Quick– Auto-play feature– Seamless integration with PPT

• Overall Disadvantages– Limited formats• Must be a Microsoft product• MPG, MPEG, AVI, WMV• Will NOT play MOV (Apple), FLV, MPG4…

– Limited Size• VERY large videos will stall PPT

• Any file can be linked within a PPT• This link is called a “Hyperlink”• Needed for many formats and large files• Simply highlight a text like this

• Movie Link– Then right click the highlight.

• Realplayer– FREE download at www.real.com – Will copy any playing video
