Victory in Jesus

Words and Music by Eugene Monroe Bartlett Sr, 1939

Hymnal page 82

I heard an old, old story,how a Savior

came from glory,How He gave His life

on Calvaryto save a wretch like me;

I heard about His groaning,

of His precious blood's atoning,Then I repented

of my sins;and won the victory.

O victory in Jesus,My Savior, forever!

He sought me and bought me

with His redeeming blood;

He loved me ere I knew Him,

and all my love is due Him,

He plunged me to victory,

beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing, of His cleansing power

revealing.How He made

the lame to walk againand caused

the blind to see;

And then I cried, "Dear Jesus,

come and heal my broken spirit,"

And somehow Jesus came and broughtto me the victory.

O victory in Jesus,my Savior, forever.

He sought me and bought me

with His redeeming blood;

He loved me ere I knew Him,

and all my love is due Him,

He plunged me to victory,

beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion

He has built for me in glory,

And I heard about the streets of gold

beyond the crystal sea;

About the angels singing

and the old redemption story,

And some sweet day I'll sing up there

the song of victory.

O victory in Jesus,My Savior, forever!

He sought me and bought me

with His redeeming blood;

He loved me ere I knew Him,

and all my love is due Him,

He plunged me to victory,

Beneath the cleansing flood.

Philippians 4:4-7

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We gather together

Theodore Baker, 1894

Hymnal page 387

We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;

He chastens and hastens His will to make known.

The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.

Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,Ordaining, maintaining

His kingdom divine;So from the beginning the

fight we were winning;Thou, Lord, was at our side, all glory be Thine.

We all do extol Thee, Thou leader triumphant,And pray that Thou still

our defender will be.Let Thy congregation

escape tribulation;Thy name be ever praised!

O Lord, make us free!

COME, YE THANKFUL PEOPLE, COME

Hymnal number 392

Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of

harvest home;All is safely gathered in,

Ere the winter storms begin:God, our Maker, doth provide For our wants to be supplied;Come to God’s own temple,

come, Raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God’s own field,

Fruit unto His praise to yield;Wheat and tares together

sown Unto joy or sorrow grown.

First the blade and then the ear,

then the full corn shall appear;

Lord of harvest, grant that we

Wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord our God shall come,

and shall take His harvest home;

From His field shall in that day

all offenses purge away,Give His angels charge at

last in the fire the tares to cast;But the fruitful ears to store

in His garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come, To Thy final harvest home;

Gather Thou Thy people in, free from sorrow, free from

sin,There, forever purified,

in Thy presence to abide;Come, with all Thine angels

come, raise the glorious harvest

home.
