D r e s s C o d e
The Victoria Golf Club has a Dress Code for all
Members and Guests. It applies to everyone, at
all mes.
Shorts must be no more than 4 inches above the
knee and tailored. No athle c or cargo shorts at
any me.
Caps must be worn peak forward.
Golf shirts must be tucked in at all mes.
Remember: No jeans, no “non golf logo” a re
(i.e. no Canucks, White Caps, etc.)
If you are not correctly dressed, you will be
asked to change into acceptable a re.

In August, the Seniors’ North West Golf Associa on will be holding their annual event at the Victoria Golf Club. If you are interested in caddying at the Tournament, register at the Pro Shop. This is a great way to earn some money during the summer and no experience is required!

Below are the mes you are allowed to
book tee mes to play. You may book tee
mes up to 15 days in advance through the
ballot system, or you may call the Pro Shop
within 7 days of the desired me and date.
In 2016, you are allowed to use the prac ce
range at any me, as long as you are not
taking space from adult Members. You must
step aside if it becomes busy or if an adult
Member would like to use that space or
stall.
Junior Members who have a single digit handicap (9 or less) may play at any me with an Ac ve Member, at the invita on of that Member.
Junior Eagle Members (ages 7 ‐ 11) may play any day a er 4:00p.m. but must always be accompanied by an adult.

During the summer, please call ahead to

Our prac ce range is very small. Please
use extreme cau on. You must only hit
balls with the clubs that will keep the ball
within the limits of the range (maximum
150 yards).
Prac ce range adjacent to #15 fairway is
for short irons only and you must use your
own prac ce balls.
Prac ce on range is permi ed unless an
adult is wai ng to use prac ce area.

These lessons are for students with good playing ability but need a one‐on‐one atmosphere to tune‐up in a specific part of their swing or specific skill.

An all‐encompassing, intensive program designed to accommodate any level of player to create las ng improvements. Programs include introduc on to theory, prac ce/training techniques, on‐course playing/strategy and tac cs, along with individual skill development. Student and instructor decide on the dura on of individual lessons based on the package structure.

Four‐day Camps includes 4 hours of directed instruc on each day; lunch, camp gi , games, compe ons and tournaments; daily playing lessons included. Students are grouped by age and skill level.

Available for ages 12‐17, our Junior Team strives to help players achieve as many golf goals as possible and present possible avenues to apply those golf skills for the future. The Junior Team is also responsible to a end fundraising events to promote the Junior program.

Our Junior Get Golf Ready Program is a fun an engaging way for kids to learn golf and to
meet other kids interested in the game. Open to ages 7‐18 (sessions are set in two age
groups) and all skill levels, par cipants will learn skills, rules, e que e and more while
receiving group and individual coaching.
Program includes: 20 hours of group instruc on, group and individual coaching from a
PGA professional, access to the new Junior Lounge, special events & much more!

Victoria Golf Club’s Junior Order of Merit is designed to
promote overall e que e, par cipa on and the growth of our
younger Members through the game of golf. This point system
represents a Junior’s progress throughout the year by recording
merits and demerits. The point system is as follows:
Merit Points
Checking in for a tee me: This requires the Member to make an appearance in the Pro Shop.
Proper keeping of score cards and handicap: Member must hand in a signed card to the Pro Shop.
Bringing a guest to the Club: Juniors are rewarded for bringing guest to the Club.
Caddying for a Member at an event: Some tournaments and Club events require extra caddies.
Turning in a signed scorecard to the Pro Shop: Junior Members are expected to verify their score.
Member praise: This is derived from a Member giving posi ve feedback on a specific Member.
Pace of play: Juniors must adhere to the pace of play policy.
Quarterly rules quiz: Juniors must score above 75% to get points.
Represen ng the Club in tournaments: (Any Junior tour)
Par cipa on in Club events: (Club Championships, Spring Opening, etc.)
Junior mentoring: An older Junior chaperones a younger Junior.
Play with a professional to verify handicap: Junior must be within 10 shots of handicap.
Extra Curricular Juniors may receive extra points for taking ini a ve around the Club. Examples of these ac ons are listed below:
Divot Duty: Junior Members are rewarded for filling divots on course with sand fi ll.
Green repair Duty: Juniors are rewarded for fixing ball marks on greens.
Cleaning chipping areas: Juniors are rewarded for dying the chipping green.
Un‐plugging balls on the driving range/ range duty: Juniors are rewarded points for unplugging golf balls on the Driving Range.
Tidying of the Junior Locker Room: Is a good way to add points to your tally.

Demerits
Dress code viola on: Not wearing proper golf a re on the premises.
Not checking in for tee me: Juniors must check in with the Pro Shop prior to teeing off.
No show: Juniors and Members alike are to no fy the Pro Shop if they are cancelling a tee me.
E que e infrac on: This is a broad area but includes things as being loud, running and using foul language.
Cell phone viola on: Juniors may not use their cell phones in the club house or on the golf course.
Member complaints: Member complaints will result in a loss of merit points.
Slow play: Juniors fail to abide by the pace of play policy.
Failing to put golf bag and personal belongings away neatly: Merit points will be deducted if Junior club storage or the Locker Room is le messy.
Playing restric on viola on: Juniors must play in designated Junior me slots.
Dishonesty on this point system will result in a disqualifica on from the Order of Merit.
Rewards
Rewards will be presented to the top 5 Junior Members a er the Junior Club Championship in September. This will be a monetary value in the form of a Pro Shop Credit.
Funding
Funding will be done through a series of Men’s Night 50‐50 raffles. We plan to sell ckets at registra on and at the dinner following play. These dates are to be
determined. We have a funding goal of $1000.00.
Conclusion
We feel that by pu ng the Junior Order of Merit into place, our Juniors will strive harder to not only be the best players they can be, but also conduct themselves in an outstanding manner and uphold themselves as Members of the Victoria Golf Club. This system has been developed to not only promote the game of golf, but also aid these Juniors in developing the necessary skills to be successful in all aspects of their lives.

E v a n s C a d d i e S c h o l a r s h i p In 1929, U.S. Amateur Champion Charles “Chick” Evans established a
fund to send deserving caddies to university. Today, more than
100,000 golfers, including Evans Scholar Alumni, in Canada and the
United States support the program assisted by proceeds from special
events, endowments and the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship.
In 2006, Victoria Golf Club became the first golf club in Canada to adopt a caddie
program dedicated en rely to the Chick Evans Scholarship. Currently, two former VGC
caddies are studying with full Evans Scholarships at the University of Colorado with
the third just accepted in February, 2014, where he will join them also at the
University of Colorado.

Successful applica ons fulfill the following criteria:
Must achieve top marks in high school,
have contributed to the community through volunteering,
come from families with financial need and
have completed a minimum of 100 ‘loops’ caddying for VGC Members before their
senior year.

Evans Caddie Applica on Form. Please fill it out completely and drop off the form in‐
person to the Front Desk at the Victoria Golf Club (no email submissions).
