MA PROJECT

A space within a space. A large white cube in the middle of the large exhibition room. A projection going through one of

the sides, making it visible on the inside, with accompanying sound. White on the outside, black on the inside. Inside, a

video is covering the wall. Around you the other three walls, the ceiling and the floor are black and non-light reflective.

Sound is coming from the upper sides from two speakers. On the video it’s first darkness, then a scene with me in a pitch

black space, seemingly without any borders. A monotone voice is narrating a scene with you, the spectator in the centre.

The artist is present in the work, creating a manipulation, dealing with time and space, mind and body. My voice is

detached from my body. It’s in the concept you’re watching, told to be in the room, but it doesn’t match my body. It’s

moving around.

I’m transcending the thought of physiciality into a metaphysical concept. The physical cube in the room with the external

lighting from the projector/The dark room inside it, with the full-screen video, displaying a darkness that matches the

surroundings. I’m thinking of boundaries and positioning. Human awareness.
