ENVIRONMENTAL VISION 2003

Color Line shall be at the

forefront of the green transition

of the maritime industry. As

large as the oceans might be,

they are also fragile and

essential to our future. So, we

must act carefully with respect

and concern for the delicate

balances in nature.

To be at the forefront of the green transition of maritime industry

The Norwegian Shipowner’s Association

maintains that the Paris Agreement shall form

the basis of the Association’s work toward a CO2

strategy

(Board of Directors 28.February 2017)

• Oslo October 2011

• Kristiansand November 2014

• Larvik May 2016

• Sandefjord June 2017

• Total annual reduction CO2 10 000

tons corresponding to more than

5.000 cars

• In addition NOx, SOx and noise

reduction

An innovator in high-voltage shore power

>

Innovative and transferable environmental technologies

Main features / main data:

– Plug-in hybrid technology. Designed to be highly energy

efficient and with low environmental impact.

– Battery package of about 5 MWh (mega-watt-hour)

allows for up to 60 min maneuvering and sailing at

speeds of 0-12 knots.

– Zero-emission for port operations possible as a result of

high-voltage shore connection (HVSC) in combination of

battery hybrid propulsion system.

– Good WHR (Waste-heat-recovery) capabilities utilizing a

heat – reservoir system.

– Extremely low noise emittance both during battery operation and during overnight port stays.

– Length: about 160 m.– Capacity: 2 000 passengers, about 500 cars (or trucks) – Car decks arranged on 3 levels. Efficient loading and off-

loading possible. (as pr. pier arrangement.)– Light and modern accommodation for passengers and crew.

Public areas arranged with large shopping areas and several restaurants and food & beverage concepts.

The key to success

Internationally competitive and predictable framework conditions is a prerequisite for success

1. Gather the industry around a few core competitive advantages based on fundamental dynamics in the market and society (disruptive changes)

2. Define and create a growth horizon together with internationally, competitive companies

3. Challenge the policy instruments (Innovation Norway, ENOVA, R&D institutions etc.) to get support for innovation, to share financial risk, and for approval

To trust one another is a core value in all innovation processes

The maritime cluster in Norwegian is today highly competitive
