Once upon a time, we dreamt of trendy pretty clothes, full of vibrancy colour and print. Utamaduni Wear has filled that void by combining modern cuts and trends with the bright and beautiful fabrics of Africa. Utamaduni is the swahili word for culture and tradition and we pride ourselves in using historic African fabric in our designs.

The leso fabric mostly used in the TRIBE collection was a faabric worn by the women of east Africa for centuries and we decided to bring it to this century by creating pretty easy to wear baby doll dresses and sundresses.

Embroidery was heavily used in the embroidery collection. By using silk thread to finish the fabric, it gives these dresses a more luxurious feel and a bright pop of color.

Tie and dye was heavily used in the chic in the city collection. The wax fabric gives these tie and dye prints a glossy finish making it fit for the high gloss city girl. By using these fabrics we are encouraging the the women that often hand dye these fabrics and the African textile industry.
