Career Interest Profiler

• The Career Interest Profiler is a Canadian developed measure of the six Holland codes and suggests top careers, hobbies, and activities that fit your student’s interests.

Holland’s Codes

The Career Interest Profiler is built upon John Holland’s theory of vocational personality. This theory, which has become one of the most widely accepted approaches for helping people make occupational choices, is based on six vocational personality types.

Using the CIP Report

Holland’s Codes from the CIP Report:

Using the CIP ReportMartha scored Artistic – Investigative and is provided by a list of careers that match her interests.

Zone is the amount ofskill, education, orpreparation required forthis occupation.

If students are using anelectronic version of thisreport they click on the links to get moreinformation aboutoccupations.

Using the CIP Report

• Clicking the NOC code link takes the student directly to more information about specific job duties, tasks and educational requirements.

• Clicking on the WIClink will take the student to more information about job market expectations, salary, and current opportunities.

Using the CIP ReportThere are pages at the back of the report with exercises to guide student use of the information in the report and explore career direction further.

Career Interest Profiler ManualFamiliarize yourself with the information in the manual as it covers the development and interpretation of the CIP in detail.

Accessing the Career Interest Profiler

For Students

Signing inStudents go to the CareerID site that has been set up for their school. For example:http://mdoylecss.careerid.com

Signing inStudents create their own userID and password and click “I’m a new user.”

Taking the CIPStudents click on “Career Interest Profiler” to launch the assessment.

Taking the CIPStudents are presented with instructions and click “Begin” to start.

Taking the CIPStudents complete the 180 item Career Interest Profiler. It should only take 15-20 minutes.

Generating the ReportStudents click the generate button to generate their Canadian Career Interest Profiler Report.

Generating the ReportStudents click the generate button to generate their Canadian Career Interest Profiler Report.

Generating the ReportStudents click the “view” button to open their personalized report as a pdf.

Generating the ReportStudents can save their report or log back in later to view it as many times as they wish.

For Counsellors

Signing inCounsellors go to the CareerID site that has been set up for their school. For example: http://stbenedict.careerid.com/admin

Viewing Student ReportsLog in using the userID and Password that has been provided to your school. You will see recent student activity. Click on Career Interest Profiler to view students who completed assessments today.

Viewing Student ReportsYou can see that Martha Stewart completed the CIP today. Click on her name to access her report.

Viewing Student ReportsClick on “View” to open the .pdf report or “email” to send it.
