Using unitingchurch.org.au domain hosting services

Setup an account.

Point your web browser to www.unitingchurch.org.au

Click on Get account

Completely fill in the New Account Signup form and click Finish at the bottom.

It usually less than 24 hours for an application to be approved. When approval is given you will receive an email with

an Account Name, Login Name and Login Password.

Manage your services

When you receive your email you can go to the control panel login page at http://controlpanel.unitingchurch.org.au

Enter the details provided to you in the control panel and login to the control panel.

The first thing you will want to do is create a new domain. To do this you need to add a package of services. Click on

My Packages.

Next Click on the Add button. Given the package a name and click the Save button.

Once your package is created click on My Domains on the menu on the left.

Click on Create Domain.

If you have already registered a domain name with a registrar then enter its name in the Domain Name field. In that

instance you will need to setup the Name Servers with your domain name registrar for that specific domain name.

When asked for authoritative DNS servers then use ns3.unitingchurch.org.au and ns4.unitingchurch.org.au.

If you want to use a unitingchurch.org.au sub-domain then enter its full name into the field. For example… If you

want a domain called mytown.unitingchurch.org.au then enter that. It can take up to 24 hours before I can process

these requests with the unitingchurch.org.au name servers. Once that is done the domain will be visible to the world.

At present this process is not fully automated. Once the domain name information is entered press the Save button

and your domain services will be created on the server. This can take a minute or two.

Once your domain is created you will see it in the list. Click on the new Domain Name and you will be presented

with a range of options for managing services.

At present the system automatically creates an email account like mail@mytown.unitingchurch.org.au. The password

for this account will be the same as the login password. An ftp account is also created as

ftp@mytown.unitingchurch.org.au. Again the password is the same as the login password.

Some Sensible Disclaimers

Take your time to look at the options available to you. If you delete a domain then all if its information is removed.

While I work hard to provide a useful service its not possible for me to guarantee the security of your information.

All backups of all information are your responsibility. If things are lost I will do my best to help but I will take no

responsibility for your information or configuration.

Similarly I take no responsibility for the security of your information in the event of malicious damage or

unauthorised use. The server environment is kept up to date and regularly maintained and monitored. You are

receiving the same services that commercial customers receive but no guarantees or warranties are offered.

Managing a domain is generally not for the raw beginner. But a competent and patient computer user will generally

work out most of the concepts and processes with practice. If you are starting from scratch then it’s worth your while

talking to someone who already has a bit of experience and is willing to help you.

All support is done through email to admin@unitingchurch.org.au. I work as a Minister of the Word in a busy church

and need to put in place clear boundaries for these services.
