Season 6
2013-2014 General Tryout Information: Welcome to Universal Sonics All Stars. We are delighted that you have considered to join our program. Our mission at Universal is to enrich the lives of the children and their families through the sport of competitive cheerleading. Our goal each day is to teach our athletes the value of commitment, hard work, integrity, leadership, self-confidence, positive attitude and a love for the sport. Each and every family is important to our program and us. The tryout atmosphere will be relaxed and comfortable. Although there can be a certain level of stress during this process, we will do our best to ensure each athlete performs to the best of their ability. In order to do this, we feel it is best to close tryouts to the general public. Therefore, only the athletes that are trying out will be allowed in the tryout area at the designated times. Thank you for your support in this matter. The Universal coaches are confident in the placement of our athletes. The best interest of our athletes comes first at Universal. If you have any concerns about the placement of YOUR athlete, you may communicate them to the coaches via email. A follow up phone call will be made to you if needed. Each athlete will be judged on the following skills: motions, jumps, standing tumbling, and running tumbling learned at the clinic on Saturday May 11th. Cheerleaders’ skills will be assessed and they will be placed on a team accordingly. The skill level of the majority of the team determines team levels. Levels are decided by the team’s coach and may change throughout the season. Universal reserves the right to evaluate all cheerleaders on their previous years of participation. Attendance, attitude, conduct and skills are just some of the areas that will be looked at. All current Universal Sonics athletes must attend tryouts to be considered for placement on a team. Must bring the following items to or prior to Try Outs:

Try Out Attire: Sonics Apparel Top or Plain Black Top and Black Bottoms Looking forward to another fun and successful season!
Team Placement Details All teams at Universal Sonics are built based upon placing each team in a position to score as high as possible in competition. Each team must be able to stunt, jump, tumble, dance, etc. at a level that will enable them to maximize the score sheet. Please trust the Universal staff to build teams that will be successful in the competition arena. Though we try to move athletes as little as possible, there WILL BE movement within our program of athletes from one workout group to another potentially all the way until choreography begins. In certain cases, moves may still be made after choreography. Our focus is to build the strongest teams possible and to make sure each athlete is placed on a team where they can excel and have a positive experience. Each team is in need of flyers, bases, and back spots. There are situations where one may not have the tumbling skills for a specific team but has the stunting ability; therefore that athlete may make a team based on the position available. Guidelines: • The age of the competitor as of August 31, 2013 will be the age used for
competition purposes throughout the 2013-2014 season for all divisions. • Individuals that are graduating high school but that are still 18 years old and under
as of August 31, 2013 ARE allowed to tryout for a senior level team. For example, if you are graduating high school but you do not turn 19 until after August 31, 2013 you are still eligible to cheer on a Senior level team for 2013-2014
• Per USASF to be eligible for a senior team, athletes must be at least 10 years old by
August 31, 2013 • Levels of teams, training groups, times and days will be decided upon after tryouts. • Teams will be selected based on age, current ability, and future potential. Can’t make tryouts? If you are unable to attend during your designated tryout session, please contact us at 928-453-1313 or email us at havasusonics@gmail.com

Please do not send a text message. We are here for YOU. ______ ______ • It is your responsibility to wear the appropriate practice wear to every practice. ______ ______ • Please NO negativity about any other teams (all star or school), NO negativity about a child on your team or another team. NO complaining about coaches and staff. It is much better to address a problem than to listen or create negativity. ______ ______ • Please No profanity or abusive language. ______ ______ • Please arrive at all practices, competitions or any scheduled event on time. Punctuality is a MUST. ______ ______ • All squad and routine decisions are left to the discretion of the coaches. ______ ______ • Please feel free to talk to your coach about anything; just remember to do it at the appropriate times. For example, approaching a coach in the middle of a practice would not be an appropriate time. Another athletes position will not be up for discussion. ______ ______ • Please: Never post any negative comments on any websites, face book, twitter, etc. Universal has zero tolerance for athletes to have any inappropriate photos or language on the internet. ______ ______ • Posting Universal Sonics All Star music, choreography, routines, stunts, competition routines etc on any websites will not be permitted. The dismissal/addition of a team member is solely the coach’s decision. ______ ______ • Practices may be changed or added at any time during the season. ______ ______ • Please do not bring valuables to the gym; we are not responsible for unattended or lost items. ______ ______ • Each athlete will be assigned a cubby or locker to keep their cheer shoes in. It is their responsibility to put their shoes away at the end of their practice. We have had several issues with missing shoes due to athletes not putting their shoes away. Please make sure your athletes name is written inside their shoes, and practice attire. ______ ______
Program Rules & Regulations Continue • Only cheerleaders and coaches are allowed on the gym floor. ______ ______ • Please do not yell onto the floor or try to make contact from the parent viewing area during the last 15 minutes of viewing practice. We spend many hours typing up detailed information to ensure you have all the appropriate information to be informed of all details. ______ ______ • With holding a child from a practice or a competition should never be used as a form of punishment. This is not an individual sport and with holding an athlete from practice would be a punishment for all athletes on the team. ______ ______

Only coaches and athletes are allowed in the warm up area at competition. ______ ______ • Parents are never to represent Universal Sonics All Stars under any circumstances concerning accommodations, competitions or any other situation. ______ ______ • Each Team will have Team Moms.
