UDM Athletic Department Strategic Plan
When Robert Vowels began the job as Director of Athletics for the University of Detroit Mercy on July 8, 2013, His first initiative was to develop a living, breathing document to serve as a guide for the Athletic Department.
With the help of Dr. Don DiPaolo, Leadership Minor Coordinator for UDM, the athletic department created a 5-year strategic plan that will shape the vision for the future. This strategic plan will be reviewed bi-annually to ensure the athletic department continues on the right path for the future.
The athletic department strategic plan was a 9-month process that was created by the strategic planning committee for Detroit Titan Athletics.
Every single person employed in the athletic department has had input on this strategic plan either as part of the committee or a member of a goal team. Campus partners from student affairs and faculty were included on the strategic planning committee to ensure the athletic department strategic plan was in line with the university strategic plan.
The document was completed and approved by the President and Athletic Department Board of Directors on May 21, 2014

Special thanksThe athletic department would like to especially thank
Dr. Don DiPaolo for being the facilitator for the strategic
plan. He provided the strategic planning committee the
focus and the drive to make the strategic plan come to
life. His passion and energy for the athletic department
made it easy for everyone on the committee to put in the
time and commitment to make this plan a reality. His
leadership put the athletic department on the path to
creating this roadmap to the future and he cannot be
thanked enough for all of his contributions!
