Udayan Shalini Fellowships is an academic excellence and personality development programme for
girls from weak socio-economic backgrounds. It provides financial assistance for higher education,
mentoring and leadership development through workshops, while facilitating a sense of social
responsibility and aims to turn them into dignified women. Since 2002, this programme has
benefitted over 1400 girls, mentored by 85 accomplished persons in 5 states. With a
remarkable average retention rate of 95%, this programme facilitates the transformation of girls in
need into educated, employable, socially responsible women; many of whom are studying to
become engineers, doctors and chartered accountants and many are working in prestigious
companies at five figure salaries.
The personality development and grooming of these girls is as critical as enhancing their academic
skills and performance. Indeed, we believe, that enhanced self-confidence leads to superior
performance across all parameters, including academics. The results have borne this out.
One of the mainstays of the programme is the Mentors that we have. Mentoring is at the heart of
Udayan Care, in all its programmes. Fellowship programme has senior educationists and other
persons of unusual and proven ability acting as Mentors to the Fellows. They become their friend,
philosopher and guide. Since the last couple of years, we have added another tier: Mentor Didi.
Senior Fellows, those who have spent a few years with us and exhibit leadership qualities, are
appointed as Didis and voluntarily take over the responsibility of ‘guiding’ designated juniors.
Udayan Shalini Fellowships has been fortunate enough in receiving your benevolence in its Fellowship Programme since 2009. Presently 15 fellows are benefitting due to your support.

MEDIA REPORT CLIPPING In April, 2010… Mr. Santosh Kumar visited schools in Kurukshetra and nearby districts to orientate school teachers and girl students about Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme. Aim was also to increase awareness of people regarding the programme and to encourage more participation from the society, especially in the forthcoming activities. The larger vision of Udayan Shalini Fellowships in turning a girl into dignified, empowered and socially sensitive person has been the focal point of activities during this quarter. This has been kept in mind while designing and executing the various activities during this quarter. The program plans to further this vision in the coming quarter and provide the fellows with numerous more opportunities to grow and develop.
