Fall of 2014 Tulalip Board of Directors directs Tulalip Housing to

inspect 278 homes owned or managed by the tribe.

we have homes that are literally rotting from the

inside out.”

were taken, drainage patterns were studied, and

crawlspaces were inspected.

Spring of 2015:Tulalip Board of Directors

directs Tulalip staff to move with urgency and to form a

“Healthy Homes Team”

  To IMPROVE THE HEALTH

of every Tulalip child and adult with an existing lung condition.

To PREVENT NEW CASES OF LUNG DISEASE due to airborne exposures.

To PREVENT ILLNESS OR INJURY from indoor air hazards in all Tulalip homes.

Indoor Environments Staff

Housing Health and Safety (including building envelope) performed by Housing staff

Tulalip Health and Safety (Dean) oversees all work

households

Articles in Tribal Newspaper

Visits to homes, schools, offices, events for elders, events for new parents

Health clinic issues medical referrals to asthma patients for a Healthy Home visit

Snohomish County Energy Assistance Program

BIA FUNDS? Interim Improvements:  Provides up to $2,500 in

housing repairs for conditions that threaten the health and/or safety of the occupants.

Repairs and Renovation:  Provides up to $35,000 in repairs and renovation to improve the condition of a homeowner’s dwelling.

Replacement Housing:  Provides a modest replacement home if a homeowner’s dwelling cannot be brought to applicable building code

Limited amount in Pacific Northwest – maximum of $66,000 this year.
