Tru Count Air Clutch Maintenance

Air Clutch System Enemies

Dust and Dirt

Water

Maintenance is critical to ensure proper operation

Air Clutch Lubrication

Clutches are self-lubricating and require little maintenance.

Lubricate the air cylinders as required every 75–100 hours of operation and at the end of the season to keep the pistons lubricated. – Must use dry silicone included in the kit—using

penetrating oil, grease, brake cleaner, and so on, voids the warranty and reduces clutch performance.

– Any solvents used will only work temporarily and then dry out the clutch. Heavier oils may gum up clutches.

Air Clutch Lubrication

Symptoms requiring lubrication:– Clutch not clutching

(continuous planting)– Clutch slow to resume

planting after being shut off– Check Air Valve Module

Box also if clutches are not engaging

3 Possible Scenarios

1. After 75 Hours

2. After end of Season

3. Complete Clutch Cleaning

Clutch Air Cylinder

Maintenance After 75 Hours (If needed)

1. Remove the Phillips-head screw from clutch housing

2. Spray in All Purpose Silicone Lubricant for several Seconds

3. Rotate Clutches with seed shaft to cover clutch

4. This is dependent on Field Conditions and Air Clutch Engagement cycles

End of Season Maintenance

• Remove air cylinder and phillips screw and rotate clutch downwards

• Use low pressure air to blow out any dust

End of Season Maintenance

Use silicone Rotate shaft Helps free up build

up and protect from oxidation

Reassemble Before beginning

season ~ spray in silocone

General Air Cylinder Maintenance

Oil cylinders at beginning of season

Place one drop of oil in each air cylinder

Activate cylinder Don’t use silicone ~ only oil

– This doesn’t lubricate clutch– WD 40 or similar products

may degrade seal in cylinder

Complete Air Clutch Cleaning

Disassemble and clean clutch every two to three years or if clutch system becomes contaminated.

Step one is to remove the clutches from the planter so they can be serviced.

Make sure when reassembling planter drive, all lock collars and spacers are mounted correctly.

Remove Sprocket from Clutch

Remove Phillips Screw

Remove Clutch Lid

Insert small, flat screwdriver between lid and enclosure. Pry up lid, forcing it to turn counterclockwise and remove from enclosure.

Use Soft Cloth to Clean Internal Components

Clean these components with cleaner (WD40, Silicone, lightweight oil) as long as you reapply with Silicone

Best done after season Less risk of attracting

Air Compressor Maintenance Compressor is moisture- and

splash-resistant, but not waterproof.

Remove dirt build-up from fins. Replace or clean the filter

element on a regular basis.

Remove compressor assembly at the end of the season and keep it in a dry location.

Keep pressure washers away from the air compressor and air intake filter.
