The Scout-Led Troop

• Empowering Scouts to become leaders is the core of the Scouting program.

What is National Youth Leadership Training?

• National Youth Leadership Training is a week long course that teaches leadership skills that are important to the unit and in the everyday life.

• Gives the youth the knowledge and skills to run their unit’s program.

Who can attend the National Youth Leadership Training?

Boy Scouts

• Youth must be First Class

• Be at least 13 years old by the beginning of the course

• Completed the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops

• Have the scoutmaster’s approval

Who can attend the National Youth Leadership Training?

Crew Members and Sea Scouts

• Be between the ages of 14 and 20 during the Course.

• Completed the Introduction to Leadership Skills

• Have the unit leader’s approval

• Designed to give each participant a basic knowledge of various leadership skills.

• Help them relate these skills to their own leadership responsibilities

• Give them the confidence and knowledge necessary to run their unit program

• Models a month in the life of the unit – three meetings (one each day for the first three days

• Leading up to the big outdoor experience (an overnight outpost camp).
