• Objective:– To test the performance of TTCS in the orientation
as that in the TVT test and the Beam test.– To check any difference of performance between
the 1st and 2nd loop in gravity.
• Test items:– Test cases: extremely hot (23C), coldest (-15C)
– Operation and control test: Start-up, shut-down, heat load change, heat load imbalance, pump speed change, rapid change of condenser temperature.

Summary Summary
• TTCS functional test is done for the 2nd loop in 3d layout.• The loop in 2nd 3d layout operated very well and passed
the test; it has some what lower performance than that in 1st loop 3d layout.
• Suggestion for control scenario (done by ground control):– Do not run the loop at pump speed lower than 7500RPM in any
tracker operation case for ground test.– Use the start-up heater to depress pressure spike caused by
superheating during the start-up process in nominal case and cold case.

• Purpose– To evaluate the cooling capacity and stability of
TTCS in the exceptional hot case, Tsp>23C– To provide reference of cooling scheme for beam
test and ground functional check.

• TTCS 2nd loop in 3d layout can operate at the set point temperature of 26C, with subcooling of 2.5C and heat load of 200W.
• In the exceptional case, the vapor quality is above design value (0.4).

• From simulation, temperature difference between the radiator surface and the return CO2 liquid in condenser outlet is about 7C for heat load of 144W;
• For subcooling of 2C, the radiator surface temperature must be 9C below the set point temperature;
• For the highest set point temperature of 26C, the radiator surface temperature must be below 17C.

• Employing force air panels on the top of the radiators to produce turbulent flowing effect, and forming a close air loop;
• Blowing chill air on the top the radiators with tracker working at half of its maximum power (72W).
