Awards &Honors
Jack Robertson Lifetime Achievement Award AUGS’ most prestigious award is presented periodically to an individual who has had a lifetime of outstanding achievements in the field of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and has served as a role model through service, basic or clinical research, and teaching.
John O.L. DeLancey, MD is recognized for the indisputable mark he has left on AUGS and the field of FPMRS. He is responsible for much of the seminal research work that helps us understand the basic mechanisms that contribute to the development of pelvic floor disorders and has published hundreds of important research papers that have expanded this understanding. He has trained generations of FPMRS specialists and continues to have an impact on the younger generations.
Raymond A. Lee EndowmentThe Raymond A. Lee Endowment is a named lectureship created by AUGS to honor one person annually who contributes to the development and surgical advancement of urogynecology and further advances the knowledge and teaching of gynecologic surgery through ongoing AUGS educational programs.
Elizabeth R. Mueller, MD has successfully united her special interests and enthusiasm for teaching and education to develop several novel teaching tools, including an integrated, surgical anatomy lecture and dissection series for gynecology and urology residents and a formal, nationally accepted educational curriculum on urodynamics for urology residents. She has for many years served as a model of the collaborative potential for the fields of Urology and Gynecology.
Robin Haff Research Award This award is presented annually to an individual in recognition of outstanding and sustained contribution to female pelvic floor disorders research. The Robin Haff Research Award recognizes the important role that clinical research nurses and research coordinators play in the process. Without dedicated and committed staff, high quality research would not be possible.
Julie Tumbarello started as a research assistant and is now the project manager at the University of Michigan, supervising and managing all of the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery research projects. She is known there as the beating heart of a thriving program that she has played a key role in developing.
