Star intervention groups evaluated every 6 weeks.
Title I Complaint Resolution Procedures: 2015-16Lafayette School Corporation strives to meet the needs of all families and students served through Title I. However, if we have failed to meet your expectations we want to know about it. When concerns are shared with us in writing, the procedures outlined below will govern the investigation and resolution of
these concerns.
Who may submit a complaint?Public or private school parents, teachers, and administrators as well as other concerned individuals or organizations.
What must a complaint to the Lafayette School Corporation contain?
All complaints must:be writtenbe signed by the individual or organization filing the complaintspecify the federal and/or state statute or regulation that has been violated describe the concern using facts related to the matterstate the nature of the corrective action desired

How will a Title I complaint be handled by the Lafayette School
Corporation?
Upon receipt of a written complaint, appropriate central office and school level administrators will be notified and the concern will be investigated by the Title I Program Director and/or the Director of Elementary Education. Once the investigation has been completed, a report describing the complaint, summarizing the investigation, and recommending a resolution will be prepared and issued to all parties involved. The recommended resolution will become effective upon issuance of the report. The Title I Program Director and the Director of Elementary Education will ensure that the resolution recommendation is implemented. The period between complaint receipt by the Title I Program Director and resolution of the complaint shall not exceed sixty (60) calendar days.
Can LSC’s resolution decision be appealed?

At Miami elementary school we encourage parents to be involved in the education of their children. As a school-wide Title I program, we have specific parent involvement requirements
that we must meet. In accordance with our philosophy of reaching out to parents as educational partners, Miami’s staff is committed to the following Title I parent involvement policy guidelines.
Title I legislation requires us to: Miami’s staff will facilitate home-school connections by:
Convene an annual parent meeting held at multiple times convenient to parents to inform parents of their school’s participation in Title I Part A, describe the program and explain the rights of parents to be involved.
Inviting parents to a meeting in August and September to accommodate parents on multiple dates. Included topics:o explanation of the Title I program, its requirements, and the rights of parents to be involvedo discussion of ways that parents can be involved in program improvement (e.g., serving on the School Improvement
Plan Committee, organizing/attending family-school events)o review of our parent involvement policy and school-parent success compact – parental input requestedo description of the LSC Title I Written Complaint Policy for parents
Involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, review, and improvement of school programs and Allow parents the opportunity to comment on the School Improvement Plan when the school makes the plan available to the school district administration.
Inviting parents’ feedback on Title I programs during the annual Title I parent meeting and via Social Media postings. Encouraging parents to serve on the School Improvement Plan Committee while they are attending Title 1 meeting and Open
House/Data Night. Sharing program improvement information with and gathering feedback from the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) Reviewing comments submitted via the LSC Title I Written Complaint procedure Viewing Grade and Attendance records on PowerSchool.
Keep parents informed about Title I programs, curriculum, assessment, and expected achievement standards. If requested by parents, offer opportunities for parents to participate (as appropriate) in decisions related to their children’s education.
Using individual conferences, meetings, bi- monthly newsletters, letters home, and electronic media (e.g., website, Twitter and Facebook), to keep parents informed about Title I programs, curriculum, assessment, and expected achievement standards.
Providing school/student profiles on assessments such as ISTEP+, MClass Home Connect Reports, DIBELS, and Acuity (quarterly or annually as applicable) as well as classroom report cards every 9 weeks
Considering other suggestions for parent involvement upon request A K-2 Fall Data night is held in order to provide parents with baseline data so that they may follow the progress of their
children toward achievement goals.Help parents understand state academic and assessment requirements, provide materials to help parents work with their children to improve achievement, coordinate parent involvement activities with local preschool programs, ensure that information is in a format and language understandable to parents (as practical), and respond to reasonable parent suggestions for other types of parent involvement support.
Referring parents to learning resources that help parents support their child’s learning (e.g., Indiana Partnerships Center @ www.fscp.org)
Sending additional academic materials home (e.g., homework kits, helper tools) Bi-Monthly Homework assignments are sent home in grades K-4 to help parents work with their children in the areas of
Reading Comprehension and Math Problem-Solving. Inviting parents from local preschools to kindergarten round-up in the spring to support the transition to kindergarten Providing family-friendly written materials translated into Spanish (our school’s most common second language) and
providing a English-Spanish translator (on request) to facilitate conferences and phone conversations Supporting parent involvement and education through the following activities: Scholastic Book Fairs, Data Nights, and the
Miami Spring Fling. Support of the United Way’s Born Learning Academy monthly program for parents of children birth through pre-school.
Educate teachers (with parent input) about the value of parent contributions, effective communications with parents, working with parents as equal partners, implementing and coordinating parent programs, and building ties between home and school.
Engaging in ongoing study of research-based, effective home-school collaboration strategies Participating in conferences and meetings with parents
Include a School-Parent Compact Joining with parents and students in a Success Compact to support student success
