•Be natural and relaxed and gesture to emphasise key points.

•Don’t distract the audience by being as stiff as a soldier at attention or a fidgeting bundle of nerves.

• Make eye contact with as many people as you can.

• Let your eyes meet with the eyes of audience members for a least five seconds or for a complete thought. This makes you look confident, establishes rapport, provides you with some feedback and personalises your information.

• Move around a bit to release tension, but avoid rocking, shuffling or pacing back and forth.

• Project your voice strongly and clearly so your audience can hear you and articulate your words clearly ; people won’t bother straining to hear or understand you for very long.

• Relax and be yourself

• Refer to your notes when you need them, but avoid reading out your presentation word for word.

• Speak in a conversational tone that shows enthusiasm and commitment to your topic ; a low-level, monotone or lifeless voice is guaranteed to put even

the kindest audience to sleep.
