The Virtual Hero Mentoring Development Program and Process
“Mentoring is the highest form of leadership. To be invited to serve as a guide
and wisdom source for one who seeks to learn, is not only a notable
commendation, it is a unique life privilege.” Jeffrey Patnaude
How the Hero Mentoring program works:
All 12 participants view Introductory Video on Mentoring
prior to program start.
All hands virtual meeting of all Heroes and all Champion
mentees led by The Executive Mentor. This includes:
• Overview of the 12-month program and process
• Description of TWO models for session application
• Questions and Answers
Session 1: Sit Quietly – The Executive Mentor leads this
practice as the foundation of all others that will follow. Due to
its significance, the entire cohort of 12 is a part of this session in one virtual meeting. The Hero Mentors then
meet with their Triads within the two weeks following to develop further and apply.
Sessions 2‐5: Heroes only meet with The Executive Mentor and then translate the meaning and message to
Champions two weeks later using the Hero Leader’s Guide.
Pre‐work for Session 6: Each Hero completes an on‐line instrument (Psy-Cap) that measures four qualities of
a mentor for group review.
Session 6: The Executive Mentor leads the session for a review of the first six Practices with each Triad. This
session also includes reviewing the 360 Mentoring Instrument completed as pre-work.
Sessions 7‐11: Heroes only meet with The Executive Mentor and then translate the meaning and message to
Champions within two weeks using the Hero Leader’s Guide.
Session 12: The Executive Mentor leads the final lesson with each Triad including a “Reflection on
Experience” session to cement the learning.
Throughout the 12 month period, A Daily Reflection from Jeff Patnaude’s new book,
The Year of Your Transformation is sent to each participant.
“You teach best what you most need to learn.” Richard Bach, Illusions
In one 60-minute session per month, consistently in the same time slot (Ex. 2nd Fridays, 3:00-4:00 pm EST) for
12 months, each Hero in a Triad , guided by the Executive Mentor learns and practices 12 essential behaviors
of the Mentor. Following the session, within two weeks of each session, each Hero Mentor then translates
the message to the Champion Mentees they have selected for the program. This Pay-it-Forward process
represents our Teach to Learn concept and expands the number of people transformed in the process.
