PREFACE
It is our great pleasure to present the brand new edition of Directory of Québec Technical Textile Companies. This document is the ideal reference tool to the Québec supply of technical, intelligent and value-added textile products.
The shift of the Québec textile industry to advanced textiles reflects the sector’s dynamism and the intention of each Québec business to take advantage of the opportunities represen-ted by these new market niches, which combine knowledge of textiles and mastery of new technologies.
Québec technical textile manufacturers are present in several production subsectors. We invite you to study the vast range of products offered and appreciate their quality and originality. We are proud to present these Québec manufacturers, who brilliantly combine expertise and know-how. Finally, we want this directory to contribute to the establishment and consolidation of business ties, to the greatest possible benefit of the Québec economy.
Marie-Josée Lizotte Director of Consumer Goods
THE QUÉBEC TECHNICAL TEXTILE INDUSTRY FOCUSED ON THE FUTURE
Trade liberalization and the new demand imperatives have changed the textile industry spectacularlyin the past few years. Québec firms quickly profited from this transformation, which requires acquisition of new competencies, research in innovative technologies, development of distinctive products andpenetration of new markets.
The Québec industry is innovating with smart and value-added technical textiles. In this highly competitive market, in which several countries have already invested, Québec firms stand out in several niches.
Québec textiles are present in different market segments. Our companies offer a vast range of products with multiple applications, used in a wide variety of fields : medicine, industry, environment, sports, transportation, clothing, protection, agriculture, construction, packa-ging, civil engineering and housing. The firms operating in these sectors specialize in thread manufacturing, weaving, knitting, nonwoven fabrics or textile chemistry.
Thanks to a proactive attitude, a constant lookout for new technology, mastery of innovation and the development of its know-how, Québec is meeting the challenges of market globalization.
The Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation ( MDEIE ) plays an active role in assisting companies. It ensures that Québec textile designers and manufacturers are equipped with innovation and production resources capable of satisfying the most specialized needs of private and public customers.
More detailed information on the sector’s firms can be found on the MDEIE Web site at : www.mdeie.gouv.qc.ca/textilestechniques
