Paper Wars Subscription Order Form 63

Welcome to issue 88. In this issue, we have Stephen Newberg’s Scourge of God. Playing those loveable Mongols never gets old. This one was originally published in 1982 and still remains one of the better games on the topic (granted, that’s without a ton of competition). I will be continuing to get my influence on the magazine as time goes on. Starting with the next issue, I’ll start to have reviews from companies that perhaps don’t get the kind of exposure that they deserve. I hope to remedy that starting next issue. I should even have my first review coming next issue on 1985: Under the Iron Sky – a “spiritual successor” to one of my all-time favorite games – SPI’s Next War.But first, some business.

ALL SUBSCRIPTIONS END WITH THIS ISSUE!!

The next four games coming are listed on page 63 – as well as thespecial offer that goes with my thanks for your continuing support. You can use the coupon provided, or, renew on-line using thecoupon code “paperwars”.

Several games are coming or have come out since we last spoke.

Red Star/White EagleDesigned by David Williams, this game, originally published in 1979 by Game Designer’s Workshop, was very long overdue for a facelift. A rare game on the 1920 war between Poland and the newly born Soviet Union, this one is not just informa-tive but also a great game. Have a look if you haven’t – it’s getting great comments and reviews for John’s ex-cellent work.

Lion of JudahAnother game on an undergamed topic, this time on the War for Ethiopia from 1935-1941. This one covers two campaigns – the first, Italy’s attempts to subjugate Ethiopia – but also the Com-monwealth’s return to the theater in 1940 to take back Italy’s con-quests. A very attractive game that again gives a face to a lesser known conflict.
